Hurricane Katrina Insurance Claims

Michael Caddell and John Scofield were retained to evaluate over 400 business and personal insurance claims arising from wind damage caused by Hurricane Katrina along the Mississippi coast. Victory for Quapaw Tribe in Environmental Litigation

As lead counsel, Caddell & Chapman secured an $11.5 million settlement on behalf of its client, the sovereign Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma against ASARCO LLC, a mining company and recovered an additional $8.856 million for the Quapaw Tribe against various other mining defendants and the BNSF railroad.

On August 24, 2009, Judge Lee Rosenthal in the Southern District of Texas appointed Michael Caddell as Co‑Lead Counsel for a class of banks, credit unions and other financial institutions in a multi-district litigation case against Heartland Payment Systems.
